About this world
Wake at half past four on an Old Order Amish dairy farm in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and live one whole Monday in July, from the first milking to the last lamp. Play as Samuel or Anna, a young adult on the family farm. Push the feed cart down the alley and help Dat milk the herd: strip, dip and dry each cow, then put the milker on. Then the calves' nipple pails or the hens' eggs, breakfast with the whole family, and an errand to the village: harness Bess piece by piece, back her into the shafts of the grey-topped buggy and drive her down the road. Samuel mucks out the horse stalls with a wheelbarrow and pitchfork, sets the wheat up in shocks and drives the mule team on the hay rake, racing the afternoon storm. Anna starts the engine washer for wash day, feeds it all through the wringer and cranks it out on the pulley line, then picks the garden and puts up chow-chow with Mam. Every chore plays out start to finish, the way it's really done. Then supper together, the porch as the light goes and the lightning bugs come out, and the lamp out. Four-thirty comes early. A journal fills in as you work, with researched notes on the dairy, the horses, the road and the house, and Pennsylvania Dutch words with how to say them. WASD to walk, mouse to look, hold E to do a job, V for third person, J for the journal, M for the map, G for the guide. In the buggy: W to cluck her on, S for whoa, A and D to lay the lines. Gamepad and touch supported. Your day saves to your VYRLD account.
