Privacy policy

VYRLD — this website and the VYRLD app — lets you play worlds and make your own with AI. This page explains what we collect, why, who helps us run the service, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, email hello@vyrld.com.

Who can use VYRLD

You must be 13 or older to create an account. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child under 13 has given us information, email us and we’ll delete it.

What we collect

Account details. When you sign in with email, Apple or Google, our sign-in provider gives us your email address, and your name and profile photo if that account has them. You choose a public nickname and confirm that you’re 13 or older.
What you make and share. Your ideas for worlds (what you type, or your answers in the guide), the concept art and worlds built from them, worlds you publish yourself, comments, ratings, leaderboard scores and game saves.
Purchases. Stripe handles payments; we never see or store your card number. We keep a record of what you bought and what it cost, and of your credit balance and how you spent it.
Device and usage information. Pages you visit and what you do in VYRLD (like starting a build or playing a world), your device type, browser or app version, language, and the IP address your requests come from, which we use to estimate your country and to stop abuse. If you turn on notifications in the app, we store your device’s push token and time zone.
Messages. If you email us, we keep the conversation.

How we use it

To run VYRLD: sign you in, build and host your worlds, save your progress, keep your credit balance, and show your nickname with what you publish.
To build with AI: your ideas, and your world’s code and screenshots while it is being built and tested, are sent to AI providers to plan, build, playtest and illustrate it.
To keep VYRLD safe: we check ideas, comments and published worlds for content that breaks our rules, and use activity to prevent abuse and fraud.
To contact you: emails about your account, builds and purchases; replies to your comments if you’ve turned those on; and occasional news about VYRLD, which you can turn off with the link in any of those emails. Push notifications only if you allow them, and you can turn them off in Settings.

We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t show you targeted ads.

What’s public

Worlds you publish are public: anyone can find and play them, and your nickname appears with them. So are your comments, your place on leaderboards (your nickname and score), and your creator page. Your ratings count toward a world’s average but aren’t shown with your name. Your email address is never shown publicly.

Who helps us run VYRLD

These companies process information for us, only to provide their service to VYRLD:

Clerk — sign-in and account security
Stripe — payments
Anthropic and OpenAI — the AI that plans, builds, playtests and illustrates worlds, and checks content for safety
Cloudflare — stores and serves worlds and files
Vercel — hosts the website, and measures page speed without cookies
Neon — our database
Amplitude — product analytics
Resend — email delivery
Expo — delivers push notifications to your phone, through Apple and Google
Upstash — short-lived counters that stop abuse

Anthropic and OpenAI receive what’s needed to build your world. Under their terms for business customers, they don’t use it to train their models. We may also share information when the law requires it, to protect someone’s safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the business, in which case this policy still applies to it.

Cookies

We use cookies to keep you signed in, and Amplitude uses a cookie or your browser’s storage to count visits. Vercel’s measurements don’t use cookies. We don’t respond to browsers’ “Do Not Track” signals, because there’s no agreed standard for them.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while you have an account. When you delete your account, we delete it as described below. We keep records of purchases and credits, with nothing that names you, because tax and accounting rules require them and to handle refunds and disputes. Backups and logs kept by our providers are replaced on their own rolling schedules.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time: in the app under Settings → Delete account, or on the website under Account & privacy. Deleting is permanent. It:

deletes your worlds, along with the comments, ratings, scores and saves on them;
removes your comments on other worlds, and your ratings, scores, saves and follows;
deletes your concept art and the ideas you typed;
cancels any subscription straight away, so you’re never charged again, and removes your saved payment details from Stripe;
ends any credits you haven’t used;
deletes your sign-in.

We keep only the purchase and credit records described above, with your name, email and nickname removed, and we ask our analytics provider to delete your history.

Your choices and rights

You can change your notification settings in the app, turn off emails with the link in any email, and delete your account yourself. You can also email hello@vyrld.com to ask for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it. Depending on where you live — for example the European Economic Area, the UK or California — you may have more rights, such as objecting to how we use your information or complaining to your local data protection authority. We’ll respond within the time the law requires. We don’t sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Security

Everything you send us is encrypted in transit, access to it is limited to the people and services that need it, and every world runs on its own isolated web address, away from your account. No service can promise perfect security, but we work to protect your information and fix problems quickly.

Where it’s processed

VYRLD is run from the United States. Our providers may process information in the US and other countries.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you in VYRLD or by email before it applies.
